
Spades Dictionary
Bag:
A bag is a trick that is won in addition to the intial bid.
Example: If a spades player bids 4 tricks and makes 5, the additional trick is called a "bag."
Bid:
When a gamer announces how many tricks they think they are able to take in a Spades game.
Blind Nil:
When a player bids nil without seeing their hand first.
Break Spades:
The first time a Spade is played during the round/hand.
Dealer:
The person handing out the cards.
Nil:
Is when a player bids 0, in other words, they will not win any tricks.
Rank:
The position of any given player in the total player hierarchy
Set Point Limit:
The amount of points decided before the beginning of the game that the winning team must reach in order to win.
Suit:
One of the four sets or classes (spades, hearts, diamonds, and clubs) into which a common deck of playing cards is divided.
Trick:
When a player wins a Spade hand by playing either the highest card or the highest spade.
Trump:
Any spade will outrank the other suits, such a card being able to take any card of another suit.
